YOUNGSTOWN Police in Youngstown responded to a shooting at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown Thursday afternoon.

Information is currently limited, but Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley confirmed with 21 News that the hospital is on psych diversion due to a shooting at the hospital.

This means the hospital is temporarily diverting new patients from its psychiatric ward.

A statement from the Youngstown Police Department reveals that officers were called to the hospital around 11:30 a.m. for what is being described as an "isolated incident."

YPD says there is no danger to the public or patients. YPD Detectives are investigating.

21 News has reached out to Mercy Health for comment, and we were told the organization has no comment yet, but a statement is forthcoming.
