The New York Yankees got back on track with a dominant sweep of the Washington Nationals, but one player was noticeably absent from the hit parade.

While every other Yankee scored at least one run on Wednesday, shortstop Anthony Volpe went 0-for-5. That meant he'd gone 25 straight plate appearances without so much as reaching first base.

In his third season as the Yankees' starting shortstop, Volpe is having his worst performance yet on both offense and defense. Entering Thursday, he ranked dead-last among all qualified hitters in on-base percentage across Major League Baseball (.269) and was second-to-last in batting average (.204).
