WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have identified a West Columbia man as the victim in a crash involving a moped and another vehicle early Thursday morning.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said the crash happened in the 3400 block of Charleston Highway around 3 a.m. Fisher said the victim, 34-year-old Brandon Edward Clance, was heading west on the highway when he was struck from behind by another vehicle. Clance was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
The driver, who was not injured, remained on the scene, she added. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
