JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Corrections is facing another employment discrimination case, this time from a former prison warden fired in the aftermath of an inmate death.

Doris Falkenrath, who was terminated as warden of the maximum-security Jefferson City Correctional Center last year, is seeking punitive damages from her former employer, which she says discriminated against her because she is black, over 50 and has multiple sclerosis.

“(The department’s) conduct towards or concerning plaintiff represents a pattern and practice by defendant of harassing, discriminating, and/or treating employees differently because of their race,” says the 33-page complaint, which was filed in Cole County circuit court Wednesday.
