AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — The use of AI in glaucoma care has a lot of promise, but several challenges must be addressed, according to a speaker at the Women in Ophthalmology Summer Symposium.

Rithu Ramchandran, MD, MSc, an assistant professor of ophthalmology at University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, said glaucoma presents a lot of challenges related to disparity of care, workforce shortages and access, and there is an urgent need for innovation and new approaches to management.
