The Cleveland Guardians have granted first baseman Carlos Santana his outright release after placing him on waivers earlier in the week.

No other team claimed the veteran off the waiver wire.

Santana, in his third go around with the team, batted .225 with 11 home runs, 52 RBI and an OPS of .649 in 116 games. The team signed him to a one-year free agent contract prior to the start of the season.

Santana, 39, won a Gold Glove Award in 2024 while playing for the Minnesota Twins .

He spent a total of 11 seasons with the Guardians, appearing in 1,450 games, hitting .249 with 227 homeruns and 762 RBI.

The move allowed the team to activate utilityman Daniel Schneeman from the MLB paternity list.
