SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- For the very first time in its decades-long history, the Holiday Bowl will be played after New Year's Day.

Sports San Diego recently announced the 46th annual Holiday Bowl will take place on Friday, Jan. 2, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. at Snapdragon Stadium. • Watch Good Morning San Diego's interview with Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego, in the video player above

It will be the first time ever that the Holiday Bowl will be played in January.

Last year's game took place on Dec. 27, 2024, with Syracuse defeating Washington State 52-35 in the third-highest scoring game in Holiday Bowl history.

The game in January will match up the best teams from the ACC against current or former teams from the Pac-12.
