The city of Sarasota began removing Project PRIDE SRQ’s “PrideWalk” art installation on Aug. 28.

Workers were seen carefully raking black asphalt sealant over the 2,500-square-foot colorful crosswalk mural, which was installed in April 2021 . It sits in the intersection of 2nd Street, Cocoanut Avenue and Pineapple Avenue.

The mural is set to be removed alongside hundreds of sidewalk square art in Sarasota following Senate Bill 1662 , signed by Gov Ron DeSantis in June.
