HOODSPORT, Wash. — Two firefighters working on the Bear Gulch Fire were arrested by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Wednesday, the Department of Natural Resources confirmed.

Videos sent to KING 5 by a firefighter who was in Hoodsport when DHS arrived show agents checking the IDs of two different crews.

The Department of Natural Resources was not involved in the incident, Communications Director Michael Kelly confirmed to KING 5.

It is unknown why the two firefighters were taken into custody. An incident commander on the Bear Gulch Fire confirmed that a DHS operation had taken place, but that "firefighting operations continue."

Gov. Bob Ferguson said he was "Deeply concerned about this situation," in a message on X Thusday morning.
