CINCINNATI (WXIX) - After Cincinnati’s Fraternal Order of Police voted no confidence in Mayor Aftab Pureval Monday , the mayor’s only response to the vote came in the form of a public statement.

However, the mayor made a public appearance on Thursday at the ribbon-cutting for a new fire training center and spoke briefly, standing by his statement.

“Obviously disappointed but really proud of the work we’ve done for our police officers,” Mayor Pureval said.

FOP President Ken Kober said the no-confidence vote was held after months of failed leadership, which undermined public safety.

When asked what he would say to residents who have concerns about safety in the city, after the FOP’s vote, Pureval said the goal remains the same.
