The man accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Nicholas Khabra in South Surrey nearly eight years ago has been found guilty of murder and attempted murder.

B.C. Prosecution Service officials confirm the jury rendered the verdict against Brandon Nathan Teixeira on Monday (Aug. 25), following a trial in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster that got underway in February.

Initially, 160 days had been set aside for the proceeding. Monday marked the trial's 104th day.

The jury also found Teixeira guilty of discharge a firearm with intent.

Teixeira was arrested in Oroville, Calif. in December 2019 in connection with the Oct. 23, 2017 killing.
