CLARENDON COUNTY — Michael Pearson is a free man.
A judge ruled Aug. 28 to release him from prison 15 years after Pearson was incarcerated for a crime he says he didn’t commit. The decision comes after rapid momentum in his case in recent weeks as new information came to light indicating Pearson has been telling the truth all along.
At that hearing in Clarendon County, Judge Robert Hood ruled to overturn Pearson’s conviction and 60-year sentence to grant him a new trial as evidence of his innocence mounted following revelations in his case first publicly reported by The Post and Courier.
