Students at Arnall Middle School took an immersive tour of Georgia thanks to their new virtual reality headsets.
Last week, Dr. Phillip Sykes, the county school system’s Social Studies and Fine Arts Content Specialist, held several virtual reality workshops at Arnall Middle School.
Sykes has been using virtual reality in the classroom since 2023, when he applied for and received a $2,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Education. Sykes used the funding to purchase several Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headsets.
Since then, he’s visited hundreds of classrooms across the county to teach students and instructors alike about the positive learning opportunities virtual reality presents.
