MINNEAPOLIS – Law enforcement officials in Minnesota said they're analyzing hundreds of pieces of evidence they hope will help them assess what motivated a 23-year-old to open fire on a church filled with schoolchildren, killing two young students and injuring 18 others during a back-to-school Mass.

Joseph Thompson, the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota, said at a news conference Aug. 28 that the evidence includes hundreds of pages of writing in which the shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, details plans for the attack, praises other mass shooters and expresses "hate towards almost every group imaginable."
