SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - We told you South Bend’s redevelopment commission approved a project which will bring in an outdoor entertainment area.

There’s also another major project approved by the commission Thursday.

It approved the second phase of the city’s development project on the St. Joseph River in the East Bank Neighborhood.

This will bring 25 apartment units right next to the existing seven-story tower building on East Colfax Avenue.

City officials say this project will take advantage of underutilized space in downtown area and bring more tax revenues to the city government.

“Right now, it’s paying essentially no taxes as a parking lot, and after this project is completed, it’s going to be paying up to half a million dollars a year in property taxes,” said Joseph Molnar the
