Police are probing a hate crime incident after a footballer was allegedly targeted with homophobic abuse during a match at the weekend. ‌

The shocking incident happened during a Scottish League Two match between Edinburgh City and Elgin City at Borough Briggs football ground on Saturday, August 23. During the match a home fan was thrown out by match officials for abusing Citizens goalkeeper Mark Weir. ‌
