Joey O’Brien hailed his Shelbourne players on a “magical night” for the club as they secured European group stage football for the first time in their 130-year history and a minimum €3.8m in prize money.

And O’Brien also praised the milestone moment for the League of Ireland as his side and Shamrock Rovers both booked their places in the Conference League on Thursday night, marking the first time two Irish sides have qualified for a group stage in the same season.
