The Indianapolis Colts signed sixth-round draft pick defensive tackle Tim Smith to the practice squad on Thursday.

Smith was waived Wednesday after spending the preseason with the team. The 6-4, 306-pounder was the 190th pick in the 2025 draft out of Alabama. Smith made the initial 53-man roster but was waived when the Colts claimed linebacker Chad Muma off the waiver wire.

Smith's spot on the roster was always in question as the team kept 11 defensive linemen, including six defensive tackles. Smith was drafted to compete for time as the backup to Grover Stewart but veteran Eric Johnson consistently played ahead of Smith. Looking for a free mini puzzle? Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now.
