SPOKANE, Wash - Students in Spokane Public Schools will have a shorter summer vacation but more frequent breaks throughout the year when the district begins a balanced calendar next fall.

SPS reached a collective bargaining agreement with the Spokane Education Association Wednesday, finalizing plans for the new schedule.

Spokane Schools was already planning to go to this model, but the exact schedule was not made public until now.

Next fall, students will go back to school August 26th, which means students will have seven days of school before Labor Day on September 7th.

The rest of the school year will look like this:

Oct. 9 : Non-Student Day (Teacher Professional Development Day)

October 19-23 : Break

Nov. 11 : Veterans Day

Nov. 25-27 : Thanksgiving Break
