This is the first game of the season for both teams. Missouri is coming off a 10-3 campaign that saw the team go 5-3 in the SEC, while finishing the year on a three-game win streak. Central Arkansas was 6-6 last year and went 3-5 in UAC play.

Central Arkansas was picked to finish fifth in the UAC preseason coaches poll this year. The offense contains three members of the preseason all-conference team: wide receiver Malachi Henry and two offensive linemen, Will Diggins and Jamal Mull.
