A fire is burning in the 26600 block of Pickens Road west of Eugene and a Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation has been issued for Halderson Road. The evacuation area includes all residences on Halderson Road, and those north of Halderson Road and south of West 11th Avenue, east of Central Road and Windward Place and west of Ken Neilsen Road, according to wildfire tracking platform Watch Duty.

A Level 3 evacuation means leave the area immediately. Residents should not take time to gather belongings.

The Lane Fire Authority Central Battalion is primarily responding to the fire with assistance from helicopters providing aerial firefighting support.

According to Watch Duty, the fire was first reported around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Initial reports said smoke from the vegetation fire was visible through
