NEW ORLEANS — Thursday, two weeks after Bryan Vasquez went missing and two days after his body was recovered, family, friends, and community members held a vigil in his honor. The group followed the path of the 12-year-old's last steps and marched from his home to the lagoon where he died.

Questions about Bryan's disappearance and subsequent death still remain. NOPD has opened a death investigation and has confirmed that the Department of Children and Family Services has opened its own investigation.

A coroner's report on Wednesday confirmed Bryan died by blunt force trauma and drowning. NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says the blunt force trauma was due to an alligator attack.
