ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Nearly two weeks after Alexandria Police revealed that a man had died in custody, local media and the public were allowed to watch body camera footage of the incident.
On Aug. 16, Alexandria Police identified the man who’d died in custody the day before as Alan Tucker II of Woodbridge.
On Thursday afternoon, Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire showed what he described as all of the footage captured by one officer’s camera, with some of the video obscured to protect people’s identities.
McGuire stressed the importance of operating with transparency in such a situation. He also noted that watching the video from start to finish was emotionally challenging.
