OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - It happens every fall. Students and teachers start their new school year.
Jacqueline Sanchez is doing it as a first-year teacher at Jackson Elementary.
“I’m a fifth and sixth-grade teacher. I teach science and social studies,” Sanchez said. “It’s a little chaotic, don’t get me wrong, but it’s worth it and it is lots of fun with the kids.”
It’s an exciting time not just for Sanchez, but for Omaha Public Schools. The district is starting this school year with 3,678 teachers.
That’s 116 more than last year and for other staffing to include paraprofessionals and other support staff.
A total of 692 members have been added for this year.
“They need an educator to care for them,” Sanchez said. “They need an educator to be there for them, regardless of any situation. Kid
