Four people were injured Thursday in a collision involving an SUV and sports car at a Mead Valley intersection.

The crash happened at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Cole Avenue and Markham Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency stated that a Honda Pilot and Ford Mustang impacted, but the exact circumstances were unclear.

Riverside County Fire Department personnel reached the location minutes later and discovered the occupants of both vehicles had self-extricated from the wreckage.

Three of the victims suffered moderate injuries, while the fourth escaped with minor injuries, the fire department stated.

They were all taken to a regional trauma center in stable condition.
