BUFFALO, N.Y. — Friday marks one week since a tour bus carrying 54 people crashed on the New York State Thruway in Pembroke, killing five passengers and injuring dozens more. At least nine victims remain hospitalized at Erie County Medical Center.

Amid the chaos of the wreckage, Marine Corps reservist Aidan Jerome said he felt compelled to act.

Jerome was driving home from work when he spotted the overturned bus and immediately pulled over.

“When I saw the bus I pulled over, got out of my car and started running towards the scene,” Jerome told 2 On Your Side . “There was broken glass and passengers’ belongings everywhere.”
