CLAIRFIELD, Tenn. — Authorities are intensifying their search in Claiborne County after two men escaped from a Kentucky prison camp and were later spotted less than a half-mile from an elementary school.

The inmates, identified as Billy Wayne Potter and Steven Spencer, escaped Monday night from the Bell County Forestry Camp near Pineville, Kentucky State Police said.

On Thursday, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the men were seen on surveillance video at Johnson's Grocery and Deli in Clairfield, about 12 miles from the prison and just down the road from Clairfield Elementary School.
