HERMISTON, Ore. – The Greater Hermiston area has been leading the way in job growth within Umatilla County, according to a report from the City of Hermiston.

Data from the Oregon Employment Department shows that the Hermiston, Umatilla, Stanfield and Echo zip codes accounted for 91% of net job gains in Umatilla County over the past decade.

The area's job growth has been particularly strong since 2019, coinciding with the construction and operation of data centers in western Umatilla County, the report said.

The report highlights that while the county's total employment grew by 3,200 jobs from 2012 to 2022, the Greater Hermiston area alone added 2,930 jobs. This means that nearly nine out of every ten new jobs in Umatilla County were located in this region.
