DERBY, Kan. (KAKE) – Fire officials in Derby say a house fire on Thursday evening was caused by a dog attempting to eat banana bread on the stovetop, accidentally turning on a burner.

Central Kansas Emergency Photography posted photos of firefighters responding to the scene, saying Engine 83 and Truck 81 were called to a home in the 2300 block of N Persimmon St. around 7 p.m. Thursday.
