NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Big lines greeted students at a few Rutherford County Schools this week as the district tested a new weapons detection system.

The new system is expected to roll out next Tuesday.

As students arrived at Rockvale High School on Thursday morning, for some, it felt more like they were trying to catch a flight. A student shared a TikTok video showing a line wrapping around the building.

“There were long lines, and there will be long lines next week, and we know that. We just ask the parents to bear with us,” said James Evans, the Chief Communications Officer for Rutherford County Schools.

The district shared a video of how the metal detectors work.
