On the internet I saw an article about 10 great places to visit over Labor Day weekend.

Such articles could feature 10 places to visit where Abraham Lincoln got his hair cut while living in Indiana or Illinois. Or, articles might list the 10 best hot dog stands east of Fort Wayne but west of Cleveland. Another article could be the 10 fastest routes from Fort Wayne to Bloomington. (Hint: There are no fast routes to Bloomington.)

My dad would not be interested in the 10 fastest routes to anywhere. What is the point of a Sunday drive, he would ask, if you are in a hurry to get there? On our family’s Sunday drives, Dad did not know where he was taking us until we got there. That was half the fun for him.
