GOODRICH, MI — The Goodrich High School Martians kicked off the football season by hosting the Frankenmuth High School Eagles on Thursday, Aug. 28.
At halftime, the Martians were in the lead 7-0.
In the second half, Frankenmuth came out hungry and determined, scoring twice, but Goodrich notched another TD as well.
With the score tied 14-14 in the fourth quarter and less than 30 seconds left on the game clock, the Martians put the game in the hands of sophomore kicker Jacob Daggett.
And he pushed his first-ever game-winning field goal in his first game as a varsity football player.
Frankenmuth tried to make the drive to the end zone, but fell short, ultimately notching the 17-14 win for Goodrich.
