Jeremy Corbyn has addressed a sold out rally in Greater Manchester where has held talks with local independent councillors. The former Labour leader was in Oldham on Thursday (August 28) to talk about his new political party.

It was one of the first events Mr Corbyn has spoken at since launching the project with fellow ex-Labour MP Zara Zultana under the banner of YourParty. So far, more than 700,000 people have signed up for the unnamed party.

Mr Corbyn told the audience at the Empire Suite banqueting hall that the formation of the new party was a 'pivotal' moment in history. His rallying speech came after he held a private meeting with independent councillors in Oldham.
