An investigation has been launched following a suspected sexual assault in Piccadilly Gardens .

But officers are yet to hear from the young victim - and she is being encouraged to come forward.

Greater Manchester Police says it received a report of a sexual assault at the busy city centre spot on Wednesday (August 27).

The incident is understood to have taken place at around 1pm.

Police believe the victim was a teenage girl who is yet to come forward.

Anyone with information about what happened, including the victim, is being urged to speak to GMP.
