A traveler's good deed aboard a Delta Air Lines flight took an unexpected turn—leaving them soaked, frustrated and questioning airline etiquette.

The story, shared by Reddit user u/kcialis in the r/delta subreddit, has drawn widespread sympathy from fellow travelers and accumulated 2,500 upvotes since it was shared on August 27.

Titled "Remember folks—good deeds always punish you," the post recounts how the passenger agreed to switch seats so a couple could sit together , only to end up the target of an airborne coffee spill just moments later.

"Got called up to the check-in counter and was asked if I'll move my seat diagonally to the no-screen comfort plus seat [ a type of cabin class on Delta flights ], so that a couple could sit together," the user wrote.
