UPDATE: The Small Business Administration (SBA) is also offering low-interest federal disaster loans for some people impacted by the August 14th severe flooding. The disaster declaration area covers Catoosa, Walker, and Whitfield counties in Georgia. It also includes Hamilton County in Tennessee.
Business owners impacted can apply for loans of up to $2 million. The money can be used to repair damages and replace equipment and machinery lost. Homeowners and renters can borrow up to $100,000 to repair or replace personal property such as clothes, furniture, cars, and appliances. Homeowners can apply for up to $500,000 to replace or repair their home. SBA adds that interest rates for these types of loans range from 3% to 4%.
