Tim Niggemeyer remembers volunteering 20 years ago to respond to the relief efforts in Texas following Hurricane Rita , just months after Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana and Mississippi.
He was a paramedic with Tri-Hospital EMS in Port Huron, and didn't hesitate to answer the call.
"We went all over the place," said Niggemeyer, now director of Croswell EMS. "We started in Houston and worked along the Gulf Coast, all the way over to Beaumont and a lot of little towns through there."
