Maybe the third time will be the charm.

After twice signing with the Milwaukee Brewers only to depart the organization before reaching the major leagues, veteran Shelby Miller is now a key piece of the team's bullpen for the stretch run after being acquired via trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 31.

The right-hander, who turns 35 on Oct. 10, already has moved up in Milwaukee's relief corps pecking order thanks to his performance as well as the placement of closer Trevor Megill on the injured list with a right flexor strain.

Following a clutch 1⅓-inning outing in the Brewers' 9-8 victory over Arizona on Aug. 26, Miller improved to 4-3 on the season while lowering his earned run average with Milwaukee to 4.15 after nine outings. He's also struck out 14 in 8⅔ innings, an
