CHEYENNE — Joseph Kibler said that if someone had told him a year-and-a-half ago that he would be running governor of Wyoming, he would have thought they were crazy. Over the course of the last several months, he says he now feels like he has been called to run for office.

Kibler has never run for elected office before. Outside of being a precinct committee member in the Laramie County Republican Party, he runs a web development and marketing agency and has previously worked as a firefighter for 20 years.

In 2020, he brought his family from southern California to Wyoming for “liberty and freedom.” However, he said he has grown unsettled with how some politicians handle themselves on both the national and local levels.
