A teacher at George McGovern Middle School could win thousands of dollars to help her classroom and the school, but she needs voters to help her get there.
Vocal music teacher Erin McFarland is one of 10 finalists in the “Heroes of the Classroom” contest, which could give her $10,000 for her classroom, $5,000 for the school, a year’s supply of Kleenex for the school and $1,000 for the coworker who nominated her.
She’s been a teacher for 10 years, including nine years at George McGovern, where she teaches all grades in choir, a sixth grade music class, adaptive physical education and four eighth grade electives: rock on, guitar, music production and theater production.
