JACKSON, MI – An asbestos contractor assigned to assist in the demolition of a former strip club site in Jackson received a fine.
On April 3, staff at the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy performed an investigation on the former Keeder’s Show Bar, 736 Page Ave. in Jackson, now owned by the city of Jackson.
Staff had observed that work started prior to the notified start date, April 10. Additionally, plaster containing asbestos was observed dry and uncontained on the first floor, outside of the Elm Avenue doorway, according to the notice.
This $6,000 fine from EGLE was issued to Rightway Remediation, LLC, that was subcontracted by Handy Excavating.
