NEW YORK (PIX11) -- As Labor Day approaches, New York City officials are informing residents about upcoming changes to trash collection and parking regulations.

The adjustments will only be in effect during the federal holiday.

Trash collection

There will be no trash or recycling collection or curbside composting on Labor Day, according to the New York City Department of Sanitation. Instead, residents can place their materials at the curb on Monday evening for collection starting Tuesday.

Alternate Side Parking

Alternate Side Parking rules will be suspended for Labor Day.

Drivers are reminded that parking within 15 feet of either side of a fire hydrant is illegal and that painted curbs at hydrant locations do not indicate where they can park.
