August 28, 2025 – The initial examination of a man’s body found Thursday evening in the Cumberland River showed no obvious signs of trauma.

He carried the identification of a 60-year-old Nashville man. The Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm his identity and determine the cause of death.

North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Lock Road at 5:20 p.m. after a citizen saw the body floating near the entrance to a creek that flows from the Cumberland River. A Nashville Fire Department boat crew recovered the body.

The MNPD investigation is continuing.
