SUN VALLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —The Idaho potato is an important part of the gem state’s identity, and leaders in the potato industry are gathering this week in Sun Valley.

“We really love to come and treat it like a big birthday party and celebration,” said Shawn Boyle, executive director of The Idaho Growers Shippers Association, who is holding their 97th annual convention.

Boyle said this event brings in every sector that’s involved in the Idaho potato industry. Whether that’s the farmer, the transporter, or the processor.

“This convention brings that industry together,” said Boyle. “It’s a lot of networking, a lot of educational things, but an opportunity for us once a year for the Idaho potato industry to come together and reconnect and celebrate our industry together.”
