Massachusetts State Police will be enforcing the state's Move Over law during the busy Labor Day weekend as part of a crackdown on reckless driving.

The Move Over law requires drivers to slow down and use caution for first responders, maintenance and tow truck crews working on the side of the highway, and move over if safe to do so.

"Commanders at every barracks will emphasize to their troopers the importance of enforcing this law for their own safety and for everyone working along our highways," Col. Geoffrey Noble said at a press conference explaining the push on Monday.

The push comes after several tragedies on the highways.

Last July, MassDOT worker Dave Souza was struck and killed while working on Route 24
