NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A suspect wanted in connection with an August 16 armed robbery and shooting has been taken into custody.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to a local hospital after a man arrived with a gunshot wound.

An investigation found that the victim was shot on Alton Street during an attempted armed robbery.

Zion Montrell Parmley, 19, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the incident. His charges include assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, first degree, and armed robbery with a deadly weapon.

He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
