CLINTON COUNTY, Pa. — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released a final report on the plane crash that killed a Williamsport teen in Clinton County last year.

Maisie Bitler, 17, was the pilot and only person on board the plane that crashed in Woodward Township, near Lock Haven, on the morning of July 4, 2024.

In its final report, the NTSB says pilot error is likely what caused the crash, and that there were no preexisting mechanical issues with the Cessna 172N, which underwent an inspection just a few months before the accident.

According to the report, shortly after Bitler took off, the student pilot made a left turn at low airspeed and altitude, colliding with a tree and eventually crashing into a wooded area near South Allegheny Street.
