GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Friday morning, on the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Mississippi and national leaders gathered at Jones Park to hold a commemoration ceremony.

Officials, service members, and residents gathered under the Barksdale Pavilion to remember the storm that changed lives forever and reshaped the history of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

A moment of silence took place before leaders spoke at the podium. Among them were Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, former Governor Haley Barbour, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, newly elected Gulfport Mayor Hugh Keating, and Major General Bobby Ginn, Jr., Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard.
