NATIONWIDE — A MAJOR SALMONELLA OUTBREAK IN CAGE FREE EGGS has led to hospitalizations and a recall spreading to at least 13 states, including New York, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and the American Association of Retired Persons news service reported this week.

The FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and several states reported that more than 95 people were sickened, and 18 of these were hospitalized, after eating brown-shelled cage free eggs, also known as sunshine yolks” or “omega-3 golden yolks” eggs that were distributed from June 16 through July 9. The eggs were packed in individual retail cartons bearing carton brand names: Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho and Nijiya Markets, with sell-by dates ranging from July 1 through Sept. 18, 2025.
