UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A man considered to be ‘armed and dangerous’ is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot after a multi-agency search in Smith County.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday morning he had been located.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a press conference “concerning the search and subsequent death of an armed suspect” with the Upshur and Gregg County Sheriff’s Offices, along with the FBI’s Dallas Division and Longview Police Department. It can be streamed below.

According to deputies, the suspect, Lucas Stevens, 31, was found in Smith County after the investigation led authorities there. The Department of Public Safety, Longview Police Department, Smith County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI also were called in to help.
